So it’s been a while…

Ages, quite frankly, and I have no real excuse, except the usual (school, forgetfulness, the internet consuming my soul (kidding.))

Anyway, as far as re-activating my Tumblr goes, I guess I should start with the majors:

- James came to visit over Winter break. We spent one and a half weeks together and it was lovely (I often fall short with words when trying to explain the extent to which I enjoyed his time here; we did all of those things that people tend to do when they only have a bit of time with each other towards the end of the year: hardly sleep, watch movies, explore the Ringling’s rose gardens, wander around town, go to St. Pete, to Anna Maria, kiss behind the dusty shelves of old bookstores, walk around the park, and spend New Year’s eve with a wonderful assortment of friends.)

- Trigonometry is destroying my life. My first semester grade was an 89 and I’m currently rocking a C for third quarter, ergo this will not end well and I will finally have to accept my ineptitude in mathematics despite my attempts to understand it. And I’m oddly okay with that. Death to all triangles. (I can’t remember where I read this, but apparently the shape of the triangle can have averse psychological effects on people; just in the way that a circle appears calm, symmetrical, and soft with its lack of angles, the sharpness & discord of a triangle’s angles can cause discomfort and anxiety. Who knew?)

- I’ve taken a huge liking to Mannerist artwork. Power to you, Bronzino!

- I recently found out (and by recently, I mean today) that I got into Brown’s summer program & that I received a Dean’s Scholarship, which essentially means that they’re going to pay the cost of the entire thing. It’d be a lie if I said that I wasn’t going absolutely mad with happiness.

- Our History Fair project is almost complete, and after many awkward interviews, continuously having improv. a report of our progress when Regan asks, and many late-night stop-ins at Arts & Crafts Stores, I think it’s been a pretty enjoyable experience in all (and the ridiculous amount of extra credit she’s giving us is not bad either.)

- I’ve been finding a lot of nice new music recently & have started to experiment with a different painting style. Yay!

- I’ve started to read Maugham’s Of Human Bondage, a 640-something page semi-autobiographical book published in the midst of World War I. It is surprisingly easy to read, and details the life of a boy with a club foot named Philip. It’s fantastic because it doesn’t overlook a single aspect of his life, and I feel wholly accustomed to Philip’s character, as if I know him personally. At the time of writing this, I’m on page 287- just finishing up the part where he attempts to become a painter in Paris, and it’s filled with all sorts of references to the masters of Impressionism and art galleries in the city and it’s really quite wonderful.

That is all. As you can see, my life is not that eventful.
